Based on the description, "Rick Steves Scandinavian & Northern European Cruise Ports" was not what I expected. This 1000+ page book is printed on thin, newsprint-type paper. The various port towns are described in detail, but there is little information about towns or excursions that most cruise ships offer. While this book is packed with information, it is not for those who cruise because they are not extremely adventurous - it is for those who like to explore where they dock and seek nothing outside that town.
I needed the most important info to plan for our cruise ports next year and as usual, Rick Steves has the best guide! He lays everything out so it makes sense, is easy to follow and easy to decide what to do, when, and how. Instead of going to numerous websites for weeks or months and trying to get the gist of what to do, sorting 'real' reviews from sponsored or fake ones, I can trust Rick to have the best info for the perfect trip. Highly recommended!
Thorough review of all of our ports for upcoming 14-day Baltic cruise. Yes, one could spend much time searching each port via computer, but Rick Steves provides such a thorough review, plus maps, etc., it has become our "go to" guide for foreign travel.
Covers most ports in typical Rick Steve’s fashion. We have purchased many of these in the past for our tours of Italy, Ireland and France and find Rick Steve’s guidebooks and podcasts to be an excellent addition to our travels, making sure we see the best sites and save money while doing so. Minus one star for missing Visby.
I always purchase Mr. Steves books when I go on a cruise. He has amazing ideas of things to do, places to stay, etc.

The Guide is complete, concise and informative. It covers every aspect in planning a Scandinavian cruising.
Very informative with history of all the ports. General info for all cruises is also helpful. Highly recommended.
